The Work-From-Home Slump

If you’re working from home, you’ve probably ironed out some of the challenges - Zoom meetings, cloud-based documents, etc.

But at the same time, some bad habits might be setting in.

The sofa & bed are NOT good work spaces.

It’s impossible to sit up straight and keep your spine, arms & head aligned.

What to do?:

Set up a designated work space with a desk or table and a real office chair that’s built to be adjustable to your body. Try to keep the work space away from where you usually relax.

Adjust the computer monitor so the top of the screen aligns with your eyes and move it close enough that you can read the fine print.

Invest in a wireless keyboard and mouse so you can keep your shoulders down & your elbows at a 90 degree angle

Stretch frequently. Take a 5-minute break every hour or so to get up, move around & stretch. Moving & stretching bring fresh oxygen & nutrients to the tissues and helps lubricate the joints

Focus on the good things. Take 10 minutes each morning & evening to remember the positive things in your life - make a list each day of 3 things you’re grateful for and focus on them during those 10 minute meditations.

Practice Patience, Kindness and Forgiveness. COVID-19 is exhausting. Months of worry about finances & health have us all on edge and uncertain. But we can’t let those feelings overwhelm us. If there was ever a time to be forgiving to yourself and others, it’s right now. We’re all doing the best we can with challenges we never expected.
