“Knowing”

“Knowing”

Knowing is strength! Knowing gives us an advantage. With knowledge we increase our confidence and more importantly our productivity. The more we truly know and understand, the more we can succeed! It is unbelievable how many people are quick to say “I know”. They think they know everything. It is like they can’t or won’t admit there is more to learn. Are they afraid to be found out? Do they think if they don’t know everything people will think less of them? Unfortunately, if you already think you know everything you leave no room to grow! You leave no room to learn anything, anymore. What a mistake! Instead, of being quick to say, “I know”, people should try to take a moment to open their minds. Gathering facts and accurate information builds certainty. Our gathered knowledge can help others grow, especially our children and grandchildren. We need to teach our young ones to be on a lifelong journey of gathering solid factual information. Teach them to keep the “knowing” process viable. In that way we all benefit … as individuals and as a maturing society. With knowledge there is an opportunity to do. Accumulating knowledge without action is only half the process. We need to make things happen! With what we know, we can change the world, save lives, heal the sick and genuinely make the world a better place. Soooo … instead of the knee jerk reaction by blurting out “I know”, try stepping back and thinking I can always know more. I love the age old Italian saying (that I made up a few years ago) that explains this very subject. In Italian it sounds so beautiful … “per per sapere e non compartarsi, non e ancora complimente sapere”. Very loosely translated --- it means, to know and not to do something with that knowledge … then we really DON’T KNOW NUTTIN! Open up, gather knowledge and grow!
