Sometimes Fear Distorts Reality

BTHC May 2025 Blog

Fear is so misunderstood and can really keep us from the peace and happiness that we deserve. Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous. Initial fear or the awareness of danger is a survival response and can actually be good. At the onset it could be helpful in our reaction to overcome a threat. Unfortunately, when fear lends itself to constant worry we sometimes misinterpret reality. We perceive the threat causing our fear BIGGER than our ability to adapt and overcome.

We need to respond properly to fear after the initial response, we need to train ourselves and our children how to put FEAR in perspective. We need to concentrate on how to overcome our challenges, looking for the best way to stay in the present and succeed. No problem is solved by staying in fear. Prolonged fear paralyzes. Fear turns into worry and constant worry negatively affects those around us (esp. our children) and eventually our own health. Don’t let fear distort your reality … adapt and overcome.
