Feelings vs. Facts

Feelings vs. Facts

BTHC February 2025 Blog

As humans we are often mislead by our perceptions. Many times our beliefs are based on feelings, not true facts. Emotions begin as sensations in the body, while feelings are generated from our thoughts about those emotions. Our emotional state or reaction is based on all of our past experiences, from childhood to adulthood. Not all of the things we feel, however, are good measures of reality. Sometimes, what we believe to be true is vague or irrational based on faulty information. If we really cherish our personal freedom we need to truly evaluate every decision about our relationships, our spirituality, our finances, our country and our future. By using facts over feelings we can expect better outcomes in our lives. Facts are based on something that is known to have actually happened. Facts are measured by existing information and are about reality and certainty, not mere feelings. If we take the time to evaluate our emotions before we make important decisions in life, we will be more content and at peace. Fact checking should be taught to our children and should be a habit that would serve us all well. Think about fact vs. feelings when you make big decisions in your life …
