It's that time again…

To Our Patients,

It has always been our philosophy to catch spinal problems before they progress into more severe health issues.

With that in mind, we would like to pass on some important research to you:

ü More than half of all youths encounter spinal problems due to improper use of back packs.

Source: Spine 1998; 23:228-34

ü The Consumer Products Safety Commission estimates that 4,928 emergency room visits each year result from injuries related to book bags and back carriers.

Source: Surg Radiol Anat. 1999; 21: 109-13

ü Researchers used MRI's to examine children's spines and concluded that backpacks alter the fluid content, making the wearer of the backpack a prime candidate for disorders such as herniated ("slipped") discs and Osteoarthritis later in life.

Source: Surg Radiol Anat. 1999; 21: 109-13

The research is conclusive, and unfortunately there are no current solutions available to the use of backpacks in carrying our children's books and school supplies to and from school each day.

There ARE steps you CAN take to protect the health of children in your family, and ensure they do not develop serious spinal problems, and we are happy to help you in achieving those goals.

Our office is committed to providing safe and effective Chiropractic care affording our younger patients the ability to live healthy, productive, and pain free lives. For the entire month of September, we will be providing FREE Computerized Spinal Scans to any child that is brought to our office. These scans do NOT use X-Ray and are totally safe. The scans can reveal dangerous underlying problems that conventional exams simply cannot detect. Special times have been reserved for this valuable testing so please check with our office staff at 973-338-3620 regarding available testing schedules for your child/children.

It is our desire to locate and correct any of your children's spinal problems BEFORE the daily use of their backpacks causes more serious health issues.

We look forward to sharing this important opportunity with you, and also helping safeguard your child's/children's health.

Yours in health,

 Dr. Michael Credico
